THE BIG BRASS LOVE IN FT LLAREGGUB & MR WILSON'S SECOND LINERS - MANCHESTER JAZZ FESTIVAL AT M&P'S!

There’s nothing better than ending the Manchester Jazz Festival on a high and M&P’s have pulled out all the stops to make sure this gig is a night to remember as two of our favourite Brass Bands come together for one night only for:

Matt & Phred’s BIG LOVE IN FT LLAREGGUB & MR. WILSON’S SECOND LINERS!

We’re not only bringing two bands together for the final night of MJF at the club, we are also shaking things up in the club too. This gig is STANDING ROOM only. The reason behind this is we want you, the audience to interact with the bands as they will not only be on the stage but also playing throughout the club. If anyone has been to a Mr Wilson gig at M&P’s, you’ll know everyone is up dancing the minute they play their first tune so this time, you’ll have plenty of room to shake your booty to the bands!

It’s also a TICKETED GIG. There will be a number of advance tickets available and a small amount of tickets available to buy on the night. DON’T leave it too late as tickets for this gig will sell out!

Don’t miss this heady mix of traditional New Orleans Funked up Brass and Hacienda Classics. And of course it wouldn’t be the same without starting the party outside of the club, yes there will be a Parade! Come along and enjoy the ride!

LLAREGGUB
Owing to the age-old tradition of brass bands from the slate mining villages of North Wales’, Llareggub Brass Band ascend from the ashes of the past and bring with them an immense dose of heavy brass! Their music invokes the sumptuous flavours of New Orleans marching bands, together with Bronx-inspired Hip Hop and Welsh language pop music!

Formed in 2015, the band has already released two albums and a 4-track EP and are quickly making their mark as Wales’ best live (brass) act. Their live sets often feature guest vocals by the likes of Mr Phormula (Welsh Beatboxing Champion), Lisa Jên (9Bach), and Alys Williams (BBC’s The Voice).

MR WILSON’S SECOND LINERS
New Orleans meets 90s club classics…a rave funeral without the body.

In New Orleans, funerals are celebrated in style, with noisy brass bands processing through the streets. The main section of the parade is known as First Line, but the real fun starts with the Second Line, those who follow the band to enjoy the music, marching with the musicians and twirling parasols or waving handkerchiefs.

Welcome to Second Lining.

A rabble of mischievous northerners, Mr Wilson’s Second Liners form a traditional New Orleans Second Line. However, this is no sombre occasion: Mr Wilson’s expend their collective musical talent paying homage to the diehard days of the Hacienda, 90s club culture and its greatest hero, Mr Tony Wilson.

These revolutionary genre bashers knock the First Line sideways, opting for upbeat dance tracks over traditional slow hymns. Proudly stepping out in uniformed style, they channel the spirit of the 24 hour party people and get audiences dancing wherever they play.
The vision is an anarchic, street extravaganza, bursting with colour and sound, rallying impromptu raves on street corners and rousing audiences young and old into a joyful frenzy.
