THE GRAVY TRAIN TRIO

The Gravy Train Trio’s album is all original material, reminiscent of artists like Soulive and John Schofield, Melvin Sparks, Boogaloo Joe Jones, as well as touching on old school vibes straight out of New Orleans.

The band has been playing together for 4 years and has supported some big name acts including The Average White Band, James Taylor Quartet, The Haggis Horns, Fun Loving Criminals. They have also worked with Cleveland Watkiss.

The band recently featured on BBC radio Three Counties in November last year on the Sue Marchent show. The Gravy Train Trio cut their teeth jamming with a host of visiting professional musicians and are heavily involved in the music scene in their hometown of Cambridge.

Having enjoyed great success as a popular combo playing covers by John Scofield and Soulive, the band decided to write original music in this kind of vibe. This album covers a wealth of diverse styles ranging from soulful ballads to dirty dance floor funk.

On the night, the band will play original music from their album plus new material yet to be released. The sets will also include covers from Soulive and John Scofield so expect a night of Funk, Soul and Jazz!

THE BAND:
Justin Dwyer (guitar)
Hugh Birkenhead (organ)
Ian Griffith (drums)
