JAMES BROWN IS ANNIE

One of the UK's most accessible jazz-funk artists, James Brown is Annie (JBiA) met in a piano bar, rehearse next to a sex shop, and take their name from an Eddie Murphy SNL sketch.

Purveyors of whipped up, calorie-laden, full-fat funk, James Brown Is Annie are the modern day Scottish extension of Caledonian R'N'B legends Average White Band: smooth, soulful and uber-slick. Renowned for their tight, dynamic, groove-laden live shows, the sextet regularly sell-out shows across the country; adaptable to playing festivals, seated jazz clubs and sweaty nightclubs alike.

James Brown Is Annie, will be crossing o'er the Border to lay down the grooves at Manchester's finest jazz club on Saturday 2 June. Having just finished recording their new, second album - produced by Average White Band legend, Hamish Stuart - fans of soul, funk, and r'n'b can expect to hear a full set of new material, plus tunes by Steely Dan, James Brown and Bill Withers, from the Edinburgh-based sextet.
