Jazz Jam - with Special Guests
The 2nd Monday of every month see's an open invitation to all local Jazz musician's to come and jam with the house band, led by Dave Spencer - and this month he'll be joined on stage by some very special guests. Luke Flowers will be joining on drums (he of The Cinematic Orchestra/one of the best jazz drummers in the UK, etc, etc) AND we have Sam Healey... one of the most in-demand young session musicians in the North West at the moment (so catch him while you can!). They'll be playing alongside local jazz piano legend Patrick Hurley and Dave Spencer on double bass. As Always - if you're a musician you can join in, just speak to Dave when you arrive.
Matt & Phreds Jazz Jam has in the past attracted the likes of Chuck Perkins, Lonnie Liston Smith and his Band and Ben Clatworthy, as well as members of Riot Jazz and H.A.Q. This is a chance to see a diverse section of musicians from the North-West and beyond play impromptu sets together. Led by Dave Spencer of Marley Chingus, don’t be surprised if you see a few well known faces on the stage.
The Jazz Jam is a chance for musicians to get together and get creative. It is open to all, entry is free and all instruments are welcome, including jazz vocalists.
The Jam is a great chance to meet with like-minded musicians, and a rare opportunity to see creative and inventive Jazz played in true improvised style.
