The Toby Brazier Quartet brings together four outstanding musicians from Leeds and Bradford, performing regularly across the thriving Northern jazz scene.
Rooted in the bebop, hard bop and post-bop traditions, the quartet combines exceptional musicianship with an infectious energy, breathing fresh life into some of the greatest music ever written. Their performances celebrate the golden age of jazz while embracing the spontaneity, creativity and interplay that make the music feel just as exciting today.
Tonight's performance is a celebration of the Giants of the Jazz Trumpet, paying tribute to some of the instrument's most influential voices. Expect timeless music from Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard, Tom Harrell, Lee Morgan and Dizzy Gillespie, featuring classics including All Blues, Sandu, Up Jumped Spring, Sail Away, Tom Cat and A Night in Tunisia.
From cool, laid-back grooves and lyrical ballads to blistering bebop and Latin-infused swing, this is a programme packed with unforgettable melodies, virtuosic improvisation and the kind of musical conversation that defines great jazz.
