Best known as the guitarist for Cinematic Orchestra, Stuart has toured worldwide with the band and played on and contributed to the writing of the albums, Ma Fleur, Live at the Royal Albert Hall and the award winning Disney soundtrack, The Crimson Wing.
Stuart’s latest project, The Breath, released its debut album, Carry Your Kin, on Peter Gabriel’s Real World Record label in July 2016. Stuart has also released four solo albums, written commissions for Arts Council England, The British Council and for UK saxophonist, John Surman, as part of the Manchester Jazz Festival.
As well as John Surman, Stuart has performed and recorded with some of the most prominent jazz artists of today, including American drummer Ari Hoenig, Kenny Wheeler, Mike Gibbs, Gwilym Simcock, Tim Garland, French drummer Laurent Robin, French pianist Laurent De Wilde and Austrian hang drum player and Bjork percussionist Manu Delago.
Upcoming releases include, The Space Between, a guitar duo with Mike Walker. Stuart is also featured on the new albums by Cardiff-based electronica band, Slowly Rolling Camera; London-based drummer and producer, Richard Spaven; and Brisbane-based pianist, Sean Foran.
Stuart's music fuses electronica, jazz and folk to create a magical combination of both acoustic and electronic instruments that gives his music such a distinctive sound. Regular musicians at the night include some of Manchester's finest:
Armagh born singer and flautist strongly rooted in her trad Sean-nós background, Ríoghnach Connolly also stirs elements of Appalachia, Blues and Jazz into the folk archive. Rioghnach is currently touring the UK with the Afro Celts Sound
System, as well as Manchester's finest ethio-trad, folk-hop band, Honeyfeet.
One of Manchester’s finest and busiest drummers, Luke has performed worldwide with Corinne Bailey Rae, Cinematic Orchestra, Kandice Springs, James Yorkston, The Haggis Horns, Kathryn Williams and Roots Manuva.
A Manchester music legend, John has been a secret ingredient in albums by The Cinematic Orchestra, Lily Allen, Corinne Bailey Rae, Tom Jones, John Squire (The Stone Roses), DJ Vadim. He currently has a working studio in Manchester called Limefield and continues to produce albums of music with a wide range of artists and musicians. Regular live performances as well as his own trio are with Kirk McElhinney, Honeyfeet and Baked ALaSka.
Musician, composer, sound artist, creative facilitator, producer and performer. He works across all art forms and his work is an ongoing exploration and collaboration between the voice, body and music technology. As well as being a solo artist, Singh also collaborates with a wide variety of organisations, artists and festivals, some of which include the BBC, V&A Museum, British Council, Tate Britain, BFI, Serious, PRS for music, Aldeburgh Music, Arts Council England, Creative Scotland, Royal Exchange Theatre, ENO, Aberdeen Performing Arts, Sage Gateshead, Nitin Sawhney, Rokia Traore, Aidan O Rourke, Seb Rochford, Scanner, Tim Exile, Arun Ghosh, Soumik Datta, Shabaka Hutchings, Celtic Connections, Glastonbury festival, Jaipur Literature Festival and the Rajasthan International Folk Festival. In 2017 he will be resident artist in Hull as part of the Hull 2017 City of Culture and PRS New Music Biennial.
