Many have commented as to how Rowland Jones creates a conversation with the audience via his finely crafted melodic songs. Iain Patience described him in Blues Matters (UK) as 'an experienced blues man, who knows exactly what to do with this music' Jones' music though clearly emerging from the blues shows a wide range of influences, and his songs have been favourably compared to John Martyn, Mose Allison and Jim Croce.
His solo release 'Rowland Jones - Live' recorded at 2020 Rock and Blues Festival, was nominated in the Best Live CD category in The Independent Blues Awards 2021.
2022 has began with the release of another live album: 'Live@Oswestry' recorded at Hermon Chapel Arts Centre with Jones on vocals & guitar, Bo Lee on bass and Iain Mellor on percussion. This has already had airplay from DJs in the Blues community and Blues Matters gave it a very positive review. 'an excellent live release …. a cohesive trio ...adding a full bodied sound to Rowland's songs.'
For this evening, The Moveable Feast is even more calorific than usual with the addition of Liam Morson on keys a welcome return to the Feast!

We’re very happy to be welcoming the unparalleled Victor Brox and his dream team back to M&P’s for what is sure to be an incredibly special evening.
Manchester born blues legend Victor Brox is probably one of the most underrated champions of the British Blues scene and its unsung hero. This may well have been because he has refused to be pigeon-holed into any single category and has produced an eclectic style which often defied analysis.
What cannot be disputed is his excellent singing voice, musical virtuosity and total eccentricity. He was described by Jimi Hendrix and Tina Turner as their favourite white blues singer. He is without doubt a national treasure.
Tonight Victor is joined by two of the North’s finest blues musicians, the trio having played together for many years and promising a night you’ll remember for a long time.

Simone Manunza Trio’s Italian songs started for Simone as a project with a very light feeling and a desire to explore a mixed repertoire of beautiful songs, arias and film music, which has been the soundtrack of all Simone’s life. Having lived in the UK for 10 years, this process became both assuring and hugely nostalgic, with the musical result one that can be enjoyed by many appreciative audiences.
When Simone started transcribing the music and studying the songs, it soon became clear that these were real thoroughbred compositions. Worthy to be treated like real jazz standards, with strong melodies, able to connect with the audience in a special way and highly communicative.
Tonight, the trio will be playing some pop songs, internationally well known and some hidden gems, which may be less familiar for a UK audience. An Aria from Puccini's Boheme, E lucevan le stelle, some film music from Morricone and some of Simone’s own compositions.

Diego Prato’s background includes jazz, funk, Latin, soul and hip hop music. These elements are all important influences for the duo, in a sound that is jazz-based but that has an interest in, and a vision towards, the contemporary. This is expressed in a series of original compositions as well as interpretations of standards and songs that range from John Coltrane to John Scofield to Curtis Mayfield.
The duo has gained attention from BBC radio Lancashire, and their music was played on shows such as ‘On the Wire’. Diego Prato is a familiar face to the local urban and hip-hop music scene as they frequently perform with popular acts. Both members are professional musicians performing with acts in styles from jazz to reggae and Latin.

The big sounds of New Orleans come to M&P’s for the New Orleans Jam, held every 3rd Monday of the month and hosted by mighty house band The Nightcreatures. With a strong emphasis on the involvement of brass, these monthly Jam sessions are sure to make you feel like you’ve travelled over the Atlantic to Louisiana.
The New Orleans Jam sees our little jazz club filled with the blaring brass, Rhythm and Blues, Second Line Grooves, Street Beats, Funk, Rock’n’Roll, and Rhumba of New Orleans, where the round-the-clock atmosphere sees never ending music filling the streets… This is the music of Dr. John, Fats Domino, Jelly Roll Morton, and Professor Longhair, to name but a few, and those who come by to play at the jams follow in their footsteps tremendously.
NOLA tunes really are in a class of their own, being seen by many as the true origin of traditional jazz. The bringing together of musicians in New Orleans, to all be united by music, is all about the atmosphere of a live performance. Horns aplenty, thundering drums, heavy guitar riffs, and whatever other instrument might appear would come together to create a sound to celebrate life and ensure the party never stops. The M&P New Orleans Jam sees musicians from any background brought together by this same attitude to live music. So long as it’s played in a New Orleans style… Anything goes.
Come down and experience the wonders of the Jam happening in front of your eyes, and don’t be surprised if you’re persuaded to have a good old dance too.

Georgia Crandon has performed on some exceptional stages including The Liverpool Philharmonic, Birmingham Symphony and a sell out performance at the iconic Royal Albert Hall. Touring the UK, she's had the support of her formidable fan base, including the affectionately named 'Essex Massive'.
Described as 'refreshingly different' by the Evening Standard and 'A nano second ahead of the pulse' by BBC Radio Essex, Georgia takes inspiration from the greats - the stage presence of Presley, the vocal prowess of Joplin and the flamboyant style of Bolan. Her compositions are fresh with an unrivalled retro style meaning her demographic appeal is both young and old.
Georgia now embarks on her new journey signing with Static Wax Records following some spectacular main stage performances in 2021 supporting Soul II Soul, Shaun Ryder's Black Grape, The Dualers and Northern Soul act, The Signatures.
Tonight, Georgia Crandon is accompanied by her phenomenal support band, performing a mixture of original compositions from her 4 EP releases and up-beat covers from the likes of, Blondie, The Jam, and beyond. Drawing comparisons to the retro vibes of Winehouse, and flamboyancy of Bolan, Georgia is electric on stage. A true 'Rock Chick’, that’s establishing herself firmly within the ‘MOD’ and Northern Soul retro scene.

Over to the band…
Having been musicians for quite some time, the members of Shyfinger came together, desperate to have a band with an interesting name.
All the good names were taken. ALL OF THEM. But this did not deter the plucky crew of instrument manglers, bashers and blowers. Oh no. It made them more RESOLUTE. And thus, they did put together bits of funky riffing, and jazzy noodling, and some of that “head-nod shit,” leaving out the face-melting solos so beloved of musos everywhere, and verily it became a set.
And oh, they did practice.
And they did write.
And they did drink tea, of varying strength and exotic flavourings.
And they were happy for now they have a band to which you can listen.
Good luck, and godspeed!

Throughout his development, Harris has found that looking further back in time carries many of the answers to moving forward musically. In the lockdowns, when playing with other musicians wasn’t possible and solo piano was a necessity, this meant investigating more closely the pianists of the 1920s and 1930s: Art Tatum, Earl Hines, James P. Johnson, Lil Hardin, etc. When restrictions began to ease and gigs started up again, Harris found that his playing - even in significantly more modern settings - had benefitted hugely from this exploration of the stride piano tradition.
His new trio, ’One Step Back’, will be celebrating the music of this era - playing songs written or made famous by Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, and many more.

Every 2nd Monday of the month sees M&P’s become an unmatched nucleus of all things Jazz for both local musicians and visitors to musically express themselves in a way nowhere else can offer.
Led by Johnny Hunter and his band, musicians of any level, brought together by their love of Jazz, are welcomed to the M&P stage to jam the night away alongside some of the finest musicians in the North. This is a unique experience to perform an improvised piece, a Jazz standard, or even a Jazzy twist on a pop tune, accompanied by a stellar line up and in front of a full audience. Whilst the Jazz Jam can very much go anywhere, we are passionate about keeping things true to Jazz. These jams are all about recreating the atmosphere and excitement of 1940's venues Minton's Playhouse and Monroe's where this music was created, and musicians like Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk, Mary Lou Williams learned their craft and developed the Bebop language.
Come along and watch the evening unfold. Anything can happen. Over the years, our famous Jazz Jam has attracted the likes of Chuck Perkins, Lonnie Liston Smith, Benn Clatworth, as well as members of Riot Jazz Brass Band, GoGo Penguin, and the Beats & Pieces Big Band. Who knows who might make an appearance tonight…

Charlie Cooper writes vintage soul, updated perfectly, sung with deep and husky soul-pipes! Not only comparable with classic voices like Dusty Springfield and Shirley Bassey but also up there with modern soul divas Alice Russell and Sharon Jones, Charlie is a vocal force to be reckoned with. The songs emerge from another time, influenced by the classic songwriting and arranging of Bacharach and Hal David, accompanied by grooves akin to old school Stax and Motown. Charlie invites you in for a glimpse into her mind and her world, whilst her band ("The CC's") kick it like Booker T and the MGs.
Expect originals and covers which take the evening from kick-backed admiration to the talent to dancing the night away to some of your favourite tunes from across the decades! Charlie and the band are expert musicians who truly know how to get the crowd going with their rock ’n’ roll grooves.
