Dave Luvin Presents The Jazz Singers sees some of Manchester’s finest jazz musicians come together under the lead of Kansas City bass man, Dave Luvin, fronted by a phenomenal vocalist.
Over the course of the night, you can expect to hear the absolute classic jazz songs from The Great American Songbook as well as some re-workings of more modern numbers. Knowing this band’s superb musicianship and captivating showmanship, you can be sure there will be a few surprises in there too…
Tonight, the band is fronted by Hannah Rachel:
Hannah is a multi-genre vocalist with over 20 years of experience across jazz, classical/operatic, musical theatre, and pop styles. She graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Music, focused on Vocal Performance and Research. Hannah also regularly performs across Greater Manchester as both a jazz and operatic vocalist, as well as currently continuing her studies with a MusM in Ethnomusicology at the University of Manchester.
Band members on the night will be piano, Keith Mcgee, a veteran and regular on the Manchester jazz scene as well as having played countless gigs during his youth in the states. Paul Duffy on trumpet, another veteran of the Manchester jazz scene with experience playing with American Jazz musicians while living in Mexico, including working with Sun Ra's current bassist. Phil Bennett on drums, yet another veteran and n demand drummer on the Manchester music scene, well rounded musician playing with all styles of musicians locally for over 20 years, his main work comes as drummer for tribute band Clone Roses.
