The Edison Herbert Trio brings it’s their engaging grooves, sensitive ballads and foot tapping numbers that mixes the familiar in a new to Matt and Phreds.
Born in Leeds, Edison started playing the piano as a youngboy encouraged by his parents. While studying classical piano at Yorkshire School of Music he taught himself guitar. This led Edison to being awarded a scholarship to complete his graduate music studies at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Performing with the Guildhall Big Band he worked with Randy Brecker at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and later The Jazz Warriors, Rose Royce and KimBurrell.
After graduating Edison worked as Musical Arranger for the West End musical “Unforgettable” then Musical Director on the international tour. Edison heads up a trio featuring Neville ‘Level’ Malcom on double bass and drummer Winston Clifford.
In 2016 Edison was selected to compete on the Sky ArtsTV Show ‘Guitar Star’. He grabbed the opportunity to perform with the TV shows judges Lianne La Havas and guitar legend George Benson who today, remains as his mentor and friend.
Edison has been hard at work throughout 2020. After much uncertainty and many twists and turns and through Covid lockdowns “Time for Love” was released on August 27th 2021 Edison is an international musician who has performed throughout the UK, the USA, Europe, South Africa and Asia.
Join us in welcoming this superb guitarist and his trio to our little club, it’s fair to say it’s going to be a very special evening enjoying Edison’s original tunes and select covers. Check out some examples of Edison’s music below.
