Sweet Beans is a self-proclaimed 'riot-jazz' band hailing from Liverpool. They have been consistently performing and gigging around the city since early 2019, and since the pandemic have released a four-track EP as well as a single before it.
Stylistically, the music is a combination of raucous big-band horns, jazzy harmonies, rocking electric guitar and rhythms rooted in techno and other dance music styles. When the band was reviewed in popular Liverpool magazine Bido Lito!, they were summarised as "like consuming enticing baked goods that transpire to be mind-altering edibles, it at first tastes a bit strange, but you can't help but keep eating". They were also described as "an earthquake" by Frank Griffith on his Liverpool Community Radio show 'The Jazz Hour'.
The band has played in many prestigious venues around the city including The Jacaranda, The Kazimier, District and Frederiks, as well as up-and-coming powerhouse Future Yard. They also played a sold-out show at Heebie Jeebies for their debut EP launch. The band participated in an online music festival during the pandemic, and is currently streaming their first EP titled 'The Dance Side of the Dark' on all major music sites.
Whether you're a jazz fan, metalhead or techno lover, Sweet Beans' music and electrifying live presence has proven time and again to get any crowd going wild.
