AERA is a collective of four standout groove and fusion musicians, with influences spanning Manchester to Los Angeles. Blending deep musicality with instinctive improvisation, AERA delivers reimagined classics, original compositions, and spontaneous explorations—what they call informed improvisation. Every set is a journey, fresh for every audience.

The Band:

Jordan Alfonso – Saxophone (Los Angeles)
Rooted in LA and inspired by Bob Reynolds, Doug Webb, and Bob Mintzer, Jordan is now a leading presence on the Manchester jazz scene and at home in the AERA Quartet.

George Lawton – Bass (Manchester)
Trained at RNCM and under guitarist Mike Walker, George draws on influences like Janek Gwizdala and Anthony Jackson to deliver groove, harmony, and melody in equal measure.

Jake Brown – Drums (Manchester)
Norwich-born Jake has worked with Wayne Ellington and Tim Gallagher, leads Big Enough Umbrella, and in 2021 studied in Brazil with legends Renato “Massa” Calmon and Ivan “Mamão” Conti after winning the RNCM Barney Miller Award.

Danny Bathhurst – Keys (Birmingham)
A LIPA graduate, Danny is an in-demand keyboardist across the Midlands and London, bringing harmony, sound design, and flair to AERA’s sound.

Come and catch AERA live—four unique voices, one killer sound, in one of the city’s finest venues.
