Two Manchester institutions come together in the name of solidarity in the grassroots live music industry. Jimmy’s is set to take over Matt & Phred’s for a series of nights with the goal of spotlighting the significance of independent venues within the cultural scene of Manchester and beyond.

At a time when independent businesses are facing more hardship than ever before, this collaboration gives people the opportunity to do something significant; playing a role in the effort to maintain grassroots venues, whilst supporting independent and emerging talent.

Jimmy’s Takeover at Matt & Phred’s will be exactly what it sounds like. On these nights, Jimmy's team will work hand-in-hand with the M&P’s to curate a very special event. Taking their attitude towards live music and bringing it through the doors of the backstreet jazz club. These nights will be headlined by superb artists, supported by yet more local emerging talent, all in the genres of Rock’n’Roll, Indie, and Blues.

The show will be presented in collaboration with Manchester based independent promoters Greyline, who promote shows nationally and program a number of venues in Manchester’s grassroots music scene.

The first iteration of Jimmy’s takeover of Matt & Phreds will aptly serve as the single release party for Denver County Council’s sophomore studio single “Mad Love”. Having played sold out shows at the likes of 33 Oldham Street & Deansgates’ The Lions Den the 10th of May will be their debut headline and biggest show yet.

With support from: Michael Gallagher, Tommy Ball, and Sid Cooper.

More on Denver County Council:

Denver County Council, a dynamic Manchester based five-piece, emerged when guitarist Jake Chatts, discovered a stash of demos on his MacBook yearning for purpose. A chance night in their hometown reunited Jake with Luke Denvers (vocals), rekindling their dream. Luke's captivation with the demos sparked creativity and the two began laying down vocals. Together, with Josh Leach, George Stead, and Ryan Comac, DCC formed—a sonic collaboration described as a match made in heaven.

Taking strong influence from Americana but quintessentially northern at their core. Denver County Council boasts a clashing of worlds that hits the sonic highways as one of the most exciting new bands on the scene.
