One of the most in demand collectives of musicians in the North, The Live Notes are back for their fifth instalment here at Matt & Phreds. With some of the North’s most talented and charismatic performers The Live Notes have been reimagining popular songs from across the decades, with each show featuring some utterly outstanding vocalists & instrumentalists. This show featuring touring guitarist legend Dan Machin, Adam Hockenhull on drums, Sam Allen on keys, solo artist Sara Leanne on vocals, and finally, director & bassist George Lawton at helm. This is set to be a great show.

From all-time disco hits of the 80’s, to R’n’B classics of the 90’s, through to the modern chart hits we all know and love. Think Earth, Wind, and Fire, to Dua Lipa, Chaka Khan, to Justin Timberlake, The Live Notes’ repertoire spans over multiple genres and moods, but continuously boasting one thing: a truly dedicated and masterful selection of musicians, whose stage presence and pure collective talent is a pleasure to enjoy live on stage. This isn’t an evening for sitting still and certainly not one to be missed.

Note that tonight’s band will be the 5-piece Live Notes.

Henry Botham is one of the UK’s leading Harlem Stride, Blues and New Orleans pianists, most noted for his work with 52 Skidoo, The Nightcreatures, and Mr. Wilson’s Second Liners. Henry has a huge passion for and appreciation of New Orleans piano, which draws from a wide range of influences including Blues, Jazz, Funk, R&B, Rhumba, Ragtime and even Classical music and Rock, all epitomized by the recognised master of the genre, James Booker. Audiences will not only enjoy Henry’s playing, but also his both witty and interesting introductions to both the style at large and the songs he will play.

This is the music of and inspired by Dr John, Professor Longhair, Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller, James P. Johnson, Willie ‘The Lion’ Smith, Luckey Roberts and Dick Wellstood. Now that’s a pretty impressive selection. Having his musical roots in traditional New Orleans music certainly doesn’t stop Henry being a pioneer of bringing this distinct style into the modern age, you can expect some surprises from Henry along the way, from Prince, to The Beatles, to The Prodigy and beyond, all remaining true to the New Orleans style.
