Assembled during the band members' time studying at Leeds conservatoire, Speaking Evil are an exciting and energetic, newly Emerging quintet consisting of Tenor Sax, Trumpet, Guitar, Bass and Drums putting their unique stamp on the Leeds scene. Their repertoire is rooted in and takes compositional inspiration from the post bop and modal jazz movements of the 1960s while incorporating modern elements of their own individual explorations of music.

Since forming in 2021 the band have been working hard to play explosive and energetic concerts across the northwest. On this occasion they will be showcasing music written within the last year as they delve further into finding their sound within the jazz idiom, putting a large emphasis on showcasing the improvisational techniques the band has been working on.

A new and exciting quintet from leeds dedicated to keeping the sentiment of the jazz music during the 1960s alive. Expect original music inspired by, and modern twists on music by the likes of Wayne Shorter, Lee Morgan and McCoy Tyner.
