Welcoming all musicians/singers to jam with the band - just chat to the band leader!

Every 1st Monday of the month sees our resident Blues band, fronted by the fantastic Franny Eubank, take to the stage for a night of music like no other.

The band will jam the night away with players of any standard, staying true to what Blues is all about. This is the music of John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Etta James, Little Walter, Leadbelly, Aretha Franklin, and all those greats who defined Blues properly since the early 20th Century.

Come equipped with your steel guitars, basses, mouth organs, sticks, vocal cords, or whatever other instrument you play, and join this mighty house band to either play one of the classics or see where the beat takes you… That’s the joy of the Blues. Oh, and don’t be surprised if Franny asks you to join in on a song mid-way through it!

More of a listener than a player? No problem. Kick back in our candle-lit club in the company of gritty lyricism, 12-bar riff-led tunes, and the all-round powerful performances that the M&P Blues Jam has to offer. This is one of those nights that you simply won’t want to end.

Doors: 5pm / Gig: 5-6pm
Happy Hour: 5-6pm
Free Entry

Under-18’s welcome until 7pm!

We don’t take advance table bookings M&P’s Early-Evening Gigs, just make sure you get down early to bagsy the best seats in the house!

Ayanam is a Nigerian singer but considers his "musical home" to be Manchester. He grew up in Nigeria but moved to the UK at the age of 16 and it's reflected in his musical style - taking inspiration from everyone from the Nsync to Outlandish to Paolo Nutini, and the Kooks - his musical taste is definitely "eclectic", but what he enjoys doing is taking songs from every genre and playing around with their conventions, turning the most bubble gum of pop songs into neo soul musings.

A lyricist at heart, having written poetry since 16, his raspy tone may remind you of passionate crooners like Rob Thomas and Paolo Nutini. Although most of his sets are covers. His original songs explore his struggles with anxiety as he finds it therapeutic.

In 2019, Ayanam was a member of Sir Tom Jones' team on The Voice UK getting as far as the knockouts. We think you’ll agree that this gig is set to be something very special indeed!

Plus, it’s HAPPY HOUR 5-6PM - that means buy 2 drinks and get a whole FREE PIZZA or get 2 house cocktails for just £15!

Tollbar play 'Groove-jazz': jazzy sounds rooted in solid drum grooves.

It may want to be called 'jazz', but you'll hear sprinkles of calypso, Afro-Cuban, afrobeat, and reggae in the sets of original tunes written by band members and polished in endless jams and rehearsals.

Two saxophones take the lead (Nick Cavill alto and Stan Lewis tenor) with a solid rhythm section of vibraphone (Tony Korycki) guitar (Matt Birkett) double bass (Andy Brown) and drums (Jim Adnitt).

The band came together as all the musicians had played in numerous pop, funk, soul and covers bands around Manchester and beyond, but wanted to try something a bit different…

Don't expect chin-stroking serious jazz. You're going to get infectious grooves, jazzy sounds and a great vibe.

Welcoming all musicians/singers to jam with the band - just chat to the band leader!

Every 2nd Monday of the month sees M&P’s become an unmatched nucleus of all things Jazz for both local musicians and visitors to musically express themselves in a way nowhere else can offer.

Led by Johnny Hunter and his band, musicians of any level, brought together by their love of Jazz, are welcomed to the M&P stage to jam the night away alongside some of the finest musicians in the North. This is a unique experience to come together with others to perform some classic Jazz, be it a 'standard' or something more modern, whilst showing the rest of the performers and audience your approach to improvisation.

Whilst the Jazz Jam can very much go anywhere, we are passionate about keeping things true to Jazz. These jams are all about recreating the atmosphere and excitement of 1940's venues Minton's Playhouse and Monroe's where this music was created, and musicians like Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk, Mary Lou Williams learned their craft and developed the Bebop language.

Come along and watch the evening unfold. Anything can happen. Over the years, our famous Jazz Jam has attracted the likes of Chuck Perkins, Lonnie Liston Smith, Benn Clatworth, as well as members of Riot Jazz Brass Band, GoGo Penguin, and the Beats & Pieces Big Band. Who knows who might make an appearance tonight…

Welcoming all musicians/singers to jam with the band - just chat to the band leader!

The big sounds of New Orleans come to M&P’s for the New Orleans Jam, held every 3rd Monday of the month and hosted by mighty house band The Nightcreatures. With a strong emphasis on the involvement of brass, these monthly Jam sessions are sure to make you feel like you’ve travelled over the Atlantic to Louisiana.

The New Orleans Jam sees our little jazz club filled with the blaring brass, Rhythm and Blues, Second Line Grooves, Street Beats, Funk, Rock’n’Roll, and Rhumba of New Orleans, where the round-the-clock atmosphere sees never ending music filling the streets… This is the music of Dr. John, Fats Domino, Jelly Roll Morton, and Professor Longhair, to name but a few, and those who come by to play at the jams follow in their footsteps tremendously.

NOLA tunes really are in a class of their own, being seen by many as the true origin of traditional jazz. The bringing together of musicians in New Orleans, to all be united by music, is all about the atmosphere of a live performance. Horns aplenty, thundering drums, heavy guitar riffs, and whatever other instrument might appear would come together to create a sound to celebrate life and ensure the party never stops. The M&P New Orleans Jam sees musicians from any background brought together by this same attitude to live music. So long as it’s played in a New Orleans style… Anything goes.

Come down and experience the wonders of the Jam happening in front of your eyes, and don’t be surprised if you’re persuaded to have a good old dance too.

The Giacomo Ganzerli Trio is the new jazz project led by Italian drummer Giacomo Ganzerli. This distinctive “bassless” ensemble combines drums, tenor saxophone and guitar with live electronics and drum machines, blending electronic textures with melodic soundscapes, rhythmically driven compositions and free improvisation.

Featuring Daniele Nasi on tenor saxophone and Michele Bonifati on guitar, the trio explores a contemporary approach to jazz that brings together acoustic instrumentation and live electronics to create an energetic and atmospheric sound.

Born in Modena in 1997 and now based in Bologna, Giacomo Ganzerli graduated with honours in jazz drums from the Conservatory of Mantua in 2020, before continuing his studies with renowned drummers including John Riley, Horacio Hernandez, Steve Gadd and Kendrick Scott. Alongside performing and composing across jazz and contemporary music, he has developed a particular interest in live electronics, working with drum machines, loops, sequencers and electronic pads.

The trio made its debut with a tour of Italy and Germany in March 2025, followed by a performance at the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival in China. Their debut album, The Art of Leaving Blankness, was released in January 2026 on Italian jazz label nusica.org.

Giacomo is joined by two accomplished musicians from the Italian jazz scene. Saxophonist Daniele Nasi, originally from Reggio Emilia and raised in Chicago, has performed internationally with a range of ensembles and artists, while guitarist Michele Bonifati has appeared at major European and international jazz festivals and collaborated with musicians including Dave Douglas and Stefano Battaglia. Bonifati was also named Best New Talent in the 2023 Top Jazz poll by Musica Jazz magazine.

Pat Fulgoni has toured the globe and worked with everyone from Zion Train to Camo & Krooked, Coldcut to the Red Bull Symphonic Orchestra - it’s in the blues that he’s truly spellbinding. With a voice Billboard says “could sing a pearl from its oyster” and Blues Matters declaring he can “really sing, ridiculously well,” Pat’s acclaimed 2024 Blues Experience album hit No. 3 on the UK Blues Airplay Chart and earned a UK Blues Award nomination.

Alongside him, Henry Botham - one of the UK’s leading Harlem Stride, Blues and New Orleans pianists - channels the spirit of Dr John, Professor Longhair, Jelly Roll Morton and Fats Waller, while adding his own modern twists. Known for his powerhouse performances and insightful introductions, Henry’s playing blends blues, jazz, funk, ragtime and more - with the occasional unexpected detour via Prince or The Prodigy, all delivered New Orleans-style.

Welcoming all musicians/singers to jam with the band - just chat to the band leader!

Led by Craig Hanson, some of the finest musicians on Manchester’s music scene are tonight’s house band. These fantastic individuals have come together through their love of creating innovative original music, and celebrating the forerunners from throughout history who harnessed their talent and musical conceptualisation to develop groundbreaking approaches to making music. Today, these artists are high-ranking inspiration for countless up-and-coming musicians, but the attitude held by those legends continues to pulse through the music scene.

It is this focus on the creation of music, in its most wonderful and broad approaches, which defines the Melody Makers Jam. This is a unique opportunity to get involved with like-minded creatives. Maybe you’ve got a particular tune in mind; or think that one classic would sound great arranged a different way; perhaps, even, you and a mate have been working on a track together but would love to hear what it sounds like on brass… The options couldn’t be more open, and you couldn’t hope for a higher calibre house band and more supportive audience to get things going.

When we spoke to Craig about hosting this Jam Night, he advocated a Jam based on music from the worlds of modern alternative pop, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, soul and great songwriting. Think artists ranging from Joni Mitchell to Jill Scott, Bjork to Beyonce, Kate Bush to Kendrick Lamar… Sound like your cup of tea? Bring along your instruments and vocal cords, have a chat with Craig and the band, and lets make some music.

More of a listener than a player? Book yourself a table and watch the night unfold, it’s fair to say absolutely anything could happen. One thing’s for sure, with this band and this vision, it’s going to be a good one.
